FAQ's
We highly recommend you book a week or more in advance for everything to flow smoothly. Our policy is that moves must be booked 48 hours in advance so that we have time to adequately prepare for your move. If there are circumstances that require help less than 48 hours from the move, call us directly, rush fees may apply.
We're glad you asked! Moving Labor means that we provide the muscle and expertise and equipment of moving your items, while you provide the transportation. Customers often do this with U-Haul, PODs, and other rental options.
Moving Labor is almost always cheaper than full service moving, but we offer the same (or better if we might refer you to our google reviews) level of service. Full service companies have to pay expensive insurance, truck maintenance, and regulatory fees which they pass on to you, the customer. Moving Labor uses a combination of a company like U-Haul with our labor to save you money while still getting your move done right.
Moving Labor does not have an associated license, but we are fully insured for our customer's peace of mind. A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is available on request for apartment buildings (no charge!)
Yes! We can help with packing for your move. We can also supply packing materials on request as part of the service. Please note that for the typical home move with packing, it is typically a two day move, one day dedicated to packing, and the next to moving.
We offer the following services:
- Moving Labor
- Junk Removal
- Furniture Assembly/Disassembly
- Move In/Out cleaning
- Micro/One Item Moves
We currently do not offer the following services, subject to change:
- super large/heavy item moving (pianos, gun safes, pool tables)
- disconnecting and connecting hardwired appliances
- tv mounting
- hazardous material disposal
No, we typically are not able to move larger, bulkier items heavier than 300 lbs. For pianos, treadmills, pool tables and other large items, we recommend you contact your local specialty/piano mover. However, if no stairs are involved in the process, we may be able to accommodate. If you have any questions regarding your specific situation, please give us a call.
We take great pride in being professional and responsible movers. If something is damaged through our own negligence or mistake, we will work with you to repair or replace the item. This is typically more than full-service movers provide, with the legally required reimbursable rate at only $.60 a pound, and full coverage typically coming at a higher cost to you.
Please note that items like particle board, Ikea, and similar pieces are not designed to be moved after they have been assembled, if any damage occurs that cannot be attributed to our error, such as pre-existing damage, weakened or old furniture, or damage to items inside boxes that have no visible exterior damage on the box, we cannot take liability for it. We take responsibility for boxes that are packed by us.
We accept all major forms of payment except personal checks. This includes credit cards, debit cards, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, and Cash. Payment is due in person at the completion of the move.
Yes. We can disassemble beds, tables, and other furniture as needed, and reassemble them at your new location. We also offer assembly of new furniture.
Let us know as soon as possible. We’ll do our best to reschedule based on availability and adjust your booking accordingly. If your move is less than 48 hours away, rush fees may apply.
We strongly recommend the following before your move:
- Have everything packed in labeled boxes by the room it came from
- Get appliances disconnected and serviced
- Remove all items from drawers (furniture with excessive load may break or be hard to transport)
- Have a designated parts box, for parts and screws from bedframes and furniture to be taken apart
- have a "necessary items" box that you take in your car or an easily accessible place, not packed in the truck. You don't want to lose your charger in some box in the back of the truck.
